GTAA hard at work improving our Georgian Bay fishery!
+3
This years harvest of Rainbow Trout eggs took place at the Thornbury dam mid April. The cage was lowered each morning and brought up later in the afternoon. The fish are removed, milked and the released back into the wild. The following photos show how we collected, harvested, fertilized and incubated 48,800 eggs. They will remain in the hatchery for 1 year until they have grown enough to be released and survive.
Thanks to all the helpers and volunteers that make this possible.
